Dreame Review

Serial reader

Dreame is a romance web novel app that sells chapters for coins, at about one cent a coin in the packs listed on the App Store. Its terms ban sexually explicit content, while the App Store rates it 18+ with a frequent sexual-content advisory. This Dreame review sets out both, and the coin arithmetic.

Quick answer

  • Rules against ratings: the Terms bar material that is "sexually explicit or pornographic" in what users post. The App Store rates the app 18+ and lists "Frequent: Sexual Content or Nudity" as an advisory; Google Play rates it Mature 17+.
  • Coins: packs run from 300 coins for $2.99 to 2,500 for $24.99, about 100 coins a dollar, so a coin costs about a cent. The coin cost of a chapter is not published.
  • Free: the first chapters of a novel, plus bonuses for reading and daily rewards. How many chapters are free is not published.
  • Age: the Terms say you are 18 or older. People aged 13 to 18 may use it only through a parent's or guardian's account, and under-13s are barred.
  • Cancelling and refunds: in the Apple or Google store settings, not in the app. Payments are final, with a 30-day window to report a charge made in error.

What Is Dreame?

Dreame is a serial romance and web novel app that works on a sample-then-pay model. Its About page explains "Why coins?": readers get the first chapters of an online novel free and then buy coins to continue. The App Store text claims "500,000+ novels across all genres" and "100+ million readers", both self-reported, and lists werewolf, billionaire romance, alpha male, true mate, revenge, love triangles, royal romance, fantasy and mystery as popular genres. The operator is Stary Pte. Ltd. of Singapore. The iPhone app was updated on October 24, 2026 and the Android app on October 23, 2026, and the Terms were published on September 18, 2025.

The same publisher sells at least two other apps, and the relationship between those listings is covered in our investigation of the same reading app under different names.

Dreame review: who it suits

From the published pages, Dreame suits a reader who wants a very large romance and fantasy serial library on a phone or in a browser, and who is comfortable paying by the chapter in coins. It is a poor fit for a reader whose reason for choosing it is explicit content, because its Terms ban that on paper. It also suits less well anyone who wants a published price per chapter or a count of free chapters.

What the Terms say about explicit content, and what the stores say

This is the gap that shapes the page, and each side is published, so here are both. We read the Terms of Use on October 27, 2026.

WhereWhat it says
Terms of Use, "Your Content"Your use of the services and your content must not "include or contain any material that is exploitive, obscene, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit or pornographic, violent, inflammatory, or discriminatory".
App Store listingRated 18+, with the advisory "Frequent: Sexual Content or Nudity" and an advertising flag.
Google Play listingRated Mature 17+, with in-app purchases.
Terms of Use, ageBy using the services you represent that you are "age 18 or older"; people aged 13 to 18 need a parent's or guardian's agreement and an account the guardian set up.
Dreame home pageCarries a shelf tag reading YA&Teenfiction.

The first row is worded as a limit on what a user posts, not as a statement about what the catalogue contains, so it does not by itself tell a reader that no scene in a novel is sexual. The store rating is the store's reading of the app, and Apple's advisory says sexual content or nudity is frequent. We have not read the catalogue, so we cannot say which description fits what you will find. What we can say is that the Terms do not promise explicit content.

There is a plausible background, though the platform has not said so. Apple's App Store guidelines bar "overtly sexual or pornographic material", defined as "explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings". Google Play's policy says "We don't allow apps that contain or promote sexual content or profanity, including pornography", with an exception for book catalogue apps where sexual titles are a minor fraction of the catalogue and access to them is restricted for people under 18. Our guide to why erotica apps disappear from the app store goes through those rules. Dreame has given no reason of its own for how its Terms read.

What the library holds

The genre line on the stores is romance-heavy, with a few others. The Terms describe Dreame as offering "various literary, audio, and other content and works", but in-app audio is not confirmed. Interactive stories, AI-written stories and offline reading are not mentioned on the pages we read. Our pages on billionaire romance apps and erotic paranormal stories show where it sits among the others, and the glossary entry on serial fiction explains the format.

Is Dreame free?

Not fully. The About page says readers "can get the chance to read the first chapters of an online novel before deciding whether to support an author by purchasing coins in order to continue reading". The App Store adds "CLAIM YOUR FREE CHAPTERS" and "DAILY REWARDS - Earn bonuses just for reading what you love". Neither says how many chapters are free or how many coins a reward gives. Parts of the service can be used without logging in, according to the Terms (section 2), but whether reading works logged out is not confirmed. The glossary entry on the cliffhanger paywall explains why the point where the free chapters end is the one to watch.

Checked October 27, 2026. Source: apps.apple.com. Prices change with region, promotions and the store you buy through.

Every pack in the table is close to 100 coins a dollar. 300 coins for $2.99 is 100.3, 500 for $4.99 is 100.2, 1,000 for $9.99 is 100.1, 1,500 for $14.99 is 100.1 and 2,500 for $24.99 is 100.0. So there is no bulk discount, a coin is about a cent whichever pack you buy, and a chapter that costs N coins costs about N cents. N is the missing number: the coin cost of a chapter is not published on the pages we read. The Terms (section 5) call it a pay-to-read service. One item, "Dreame Coins" at $6.99, has no count in its name and is left out of the sums.

The App Store prints at most ten purchase items per load, and the selection varies, so this list may be partial. An earlier read on the same day recorded 100 coins at $0.99, 600 at $5.99, 2,000 at $14.99 and at $19.99, and 3,000 at $29.99, plus subscription items called "week reader" at $2.99 and "a month's time reader" at $4.99. We could not reproduce the subscriptions, and the 2,000-coin pack at $14.99 would be about 133 coins a dollar, the one exception to the pattern, so we treat all of them as unconfirmed. The listing text describes auto-renewing subscriptions without a price, and Google Play prints only a range per item. For the long view, see what Dreame costs and our guide to how story app credits work.

For writers

The About page says Dreame "supports its writers by providing royalties, promotions, tutorials, workshops, publishing guides, and exploiting IP assets". The model is pay-to-read, a royalty share on a story's income, with bonuses on a separate Stary writing site. The writer's percentage and the payout schedule are not published on the pages we could read, and we did not read the contract. Our page on how erotica platforms pay writers compares what other services say.

Privacy, billing and age

The privacy policy, hosted at the api.dreame.com address the App Store links, names Stary Pte. Ltd. as the company providing and controlling the services. The Terms (section 5) say that "Subject to the policy of Apple Store and Google Play, the subscription can be canceled by you at any time before the end of the current billing period", with no refund for the remaining days. Payments "are final and non-refundable, except where specified by us", and a charge made in error must be reported within 30 days of the charge. So you cancel in the store, not in the app, and our guide to cancelling a story app subscription covers the steps.

The age check is a representation in the Terms plus the store ratings. No document check is described. We looked for a statement that all characters are adults in the Terms, the About page, the Help page and the App Store text, and did not find one; that describes the pages we read, not the stories. We recorded no card descriptor.

Pros

  • A very large claimed library (500,000+ novels, a vendor claim) across the iPhone, Android and web
  • First chapters are free, and daily rewards are offered
  • Packs are about 100 coins a dollar, with no penalty for buying small
  • The Terms were published September 18, 2025 and name the operator and its address

Cons

  • The Terms ban sexually explicit content, while the App Store rating is 18+ with a frequent sexual-content advisory
  • The coin cost of a chapter and the number of free chapters are not published
  • Payments are final and non-refundable, and cancelling is done in the store
  • No statement about the ages of characters
  • The purchase list shown by the App Store varies, so prices are only partly visible

Best Dreame alternatives

Within the same coin-per-chapter model, GoodNovel is the closest rival, also at about 100 coins a dollar, with a 13+ store rating and its own ban on explicit content; our Dreame vs GoodNovel comparison sets them side by side. Webnovel prices its coins at about 50 to the dollar, so its coin counts are not comparable. For a romance serial reader rated 18+ on the App Store, Roma: Romance Novels sells coin packs at between 100 and 150 coins a dollar. More options are in Dreame alternatives, and the apps section lists every review.

FAQ

Does Dreame have explicit content?

Its Terms ban "sexually explicit or pornographic" material in what users post. The App Store still rates the app 18+ with a frequent sexual-content advisory. We have not read the catalogue, so we cannot say what a given novel contains.

Is Dreame free?

Not fully. The first chapters of a novel are free, daily rewards add bonuses, and later chapters cost coins. The number of free chapters is not published.

How much are Dreame coins?

About a cent each. On the App Store, 300 coins are $2.99, 500 are $4.99, 1,000 are $9.99, 1,500 are $14.99 and 2,500 are $24.99. The coin cost of a chapter is not published.

What age do you need to be to use Dreame?

The Terms say you are 18 or older. People aged 13 to 18 may use it through a parent's or guardian's account, and under-13s are barred. The App Store rates it 18+ and Google Play Mature 17+.

How do I cancel Dreame?

In the Apple subscription settings on iPhone or the Google Play subscriptions page on Android, not inside the app. Payments are final, with a 30-day window to report a charge made in error.

Is Dreame the same as GoodNovel?

No. Dreame's publisher is Stary Pte. Ltd. and GoodNovel's is Singapore New Reading Technology Pte. Ltd. Nothing we read connects the two.

Final verdict

Dreame is a huge romance serial library sold by the chapter, at about a cent a coin, under Terms that ban explicit content and store ratings that suggest adult themes. Read it as a romance reader first; if you arrive expecting explicit scenes, the rules on paper say that is not what the service promises. If you want to budget, the missing piece is the coin cost of a chapter, which you can only see in the app. We have not installed or read it, so this is a summary of the Terms, the stores and the About page.
