Best Dreame Alternatives

Serial reader

Dreame's terms ban sexually explicit content, so the best Dreame alternative depends on what you wanted. For the same coin-per-chapter model, GoodNovel and Roma are the nearest, and Spicify drops the coins. For something more explicit, the pages that can answer are the adult platforms: Literotica and Crave.

Quick answer

  • Read this first: Dreame's terms ban "sexually explicit or pornographic" material, although its iPhone app is rated 18+ and the listing carries a frequent advisory for sexual content. If you came for explicit stories, the adult platforms below answer that and Dreame does not.
  • Same model: GoodNovel sells coins at about the same rate, 100 to the dollar, and also bans explicit content. Roma: Romance Novels is rated 18+ on the App Store and gives more coins per dollar on its larger packs.
  • No coins: Spicify's reading plan is $4.99 a month on its website, marked "No Coins / No Ads", for a far smaller dark-romance catalogue.
  • Explicit: Literotica is free and adults only, and Crave is an iPhone app of text erotica. Smashwords, which sells erotica by the title behind an opt-in filter, is the third place to look.
  • What none of them publishes: the coin cost of a chapter. Dreame does not either, so its coin packs cannot be turned into a price per chapter.

Why look for a Dreame alternative

Dreame is a romance web novel app: free first chapters, then coins. Its operator is Stary Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, and our Dreame review has the full record. Two kinds of reader look for something else, and the reasons differ.

If you wanted something more explicit

Dreame is not that, and we say so plainly. The Terms of Use, published September 18, 2025, list "sexually explicit or pornographic" material among what your use of the services and Your Content must not include. The clause is worded as a limit on user content. The App Store listing is rated 18+ with a "Frequent" advisory for sexual content or nudity, and Google Play rates it Mature 17+. Both signals are recorded and not reconciled. The store rules behind such ratings are set out in why erotica apps disappear from the App Store. The written rule is the stricter, and the pages that can answer an explicit search are the adult platforms covered below, not another serial app with a similar rule.

If you wanted the coin model without Dreame's terms

  • No cost per chapter. Packs run from 300 coins for $2.99 to 2,500 for $24.99 on the US App Store, about 100 coins a dollar, but what a chapter costs in coins and how many are free is not published.
  • Payments are final. The Terms call payments "final and non-refundable" and give 30 days to report a charge made in error. You cancel a subscription in the Apple or Google store, not in the app.
  • The subscription is unclear. One pass of the App Store listing recorded a "week reader" at $2.99 and "a month's time reader" at $4.99, and another did not; the listing shows at most ten items.
  • Age wording. Users must be 18 or older, or 13 to 18 through a parent or guardian's account.

Coin packs are tabulated on Dreame pricing, and Dreame's own site describes the reading side. Some apps in search results are the same publisher's reader under another name; the same reading app under different names covers that.

The best Dreame alternatives, by what you wanted

We picked five and split them: two with Dreame's model, one without coins, and two for adults who want explicit content. Readers who arrive from a search for explicit stories are the reason this page and the GoodNovel one carry a plain warning, and the alternatives hub says where else that applies.

GoodNovel is the nearest rival: a web novel app and site where chapters past the free ones unlock with coins, in packs from 200 for $1.99 to 5,000 for $49.99, about 100 coins a dollar. Like Dreame, it publishes no coin cost per chapter, and its Terms ban sexually explicit content, down to words in book titles and sexually suggestive covers.

It differs on rating and billing: the App Store rates it 13+, against Dreame's 18+, and the terms set 13. It sells weekly memberships at $9.99 and $19.99, with no monthly price, and all fees are non-refundable. Dreame vs GoodNovel compares them.

Roma: Romance Novels is a serialized romance reader for iPhone and Android with free preview chapters, coins unlocking the rest, and an author programme that pays a share when readers unlock premium chapters. The App Store rates it 18+. Its packs improve with size: 500 coins for $4.99 (about 100 a dollar), 1,200 for $9.99 (about 120) and 2,700 for $19.99 (about 135), where Dreame's packs stay near 100. It also sells time-limited Unlimited Reading passes, one listed at $17.99 monthly, and offline reading is in its store text.

The catches: its library of 10,000+ books is a vendor claim, the coin cost of a chapter is not published, and we found no content policy or character-age statement on the pages we read, so we cannot say it is a place for explicit content either.

Spicify sells original dark romance for adults 18+ as books, multi-voice audiobooks and Webtoons. Its website lists three monthly plans, Ink & Desire at $4.99 for unlimited reading, Voices in the Dark at $14.99 with audiobooks and All Obsessions Unlocked at $19.99, each marked "No Coins / No Ads". It runs on iPhone, Android and the web. That replaces Dreame's pay-per-chapter coins with a flat price.

The library is a different scale: 100+ titles, by the FAQ's claim, against Dreame's 500,000+ novels. The $4.99 was seen from a European IP, the App Store lists items with the same names at $49.99, $149.99 and $199.99 and no period, its pages disagree on what is free, narration is AI, there is no offline listening, and its refund policy says all payments are final. We found no statement on whether explicit content is allowed.

Crave is an iPhone-only reader of text erotica, "Read, don't listen", rated 18+ on the App Store. The listing says "New erotica added weekly". Its Terms of Use say all characters depicted "are portrayed as being 18 years of age or older, regardless of context or setting". The US App Store lists a monthly Premium item at $12.99 and a yearly one at $59.99, and there are no coins to count.

It is an answer to the explicit question that the serial apps on this list do not give. The trade-offs: it is a subscription, not pay-per-chapter, there is no Android app or web reader, the listing does not say what is free or who writes the stories, and the Terms read as a reused template.

Literotica is a free website of stories, audio and interactive story games for adults, with no account needed to read and no coins. Its terms treat a visit as confirmation that you are an adult, and its footer says "Characters in all stories are over 18". The About page claims 500,000+ stories, the same headline figure as Dreame's claim of 500,000+ novels, from a different kind of catalogue.

It is a different kind of product. Stories are published by members, there is no store app, no offline mode that we found, and no subscription to unlock more. It does not publish AI-generated work. Serial romance in the Dreame style is not its centre.

Dreame and its alternatives side by side

Dreame heads the table. The Explicit content column is the one to read, since it gives each service's own stance, and a cell reading Not confirmed marks silence and not a no.

Only two rows say yes in their own words, Crave and Literotica. One is a website and the other is iPhone only. The apps that look closest to Dreame say no or say nothing, and a store rating of 18+ does not change that.

How to choose

  • You want what Dreame sells, from a different publisher: GoodNovel for the nearest model or Roma for an 18+ rating and bigger packs. Neither tells you what a chapter costs.
  • You want to stop counting coins: Spicify, accepting a small catalogue and a contradictory free tier.
  • You want explicit stories: Literotica for a free site, Crave for an iPhone app, or Smashwords for finished books bought one at a time, with erotica hidden until a registered user switches it on and no coins to count. Read erotic romance apps for where each service sits by genre.
  • You want to know what you will pay: how story app credits work covers how coins turn into a price, and without a per-chapter cost we cannot do that sum here. Our glossary entry on credit-based reading defines the model.

FAQ

Does Dreame allow explicit content?

Its Terms of Use list "sexually explicit or pornographic" material among what your use and Your Content must not include. The App Store rating is 18+ and Google Play rates it Mature 17+, so the ratings and the terms disagree.

What is the closest app to Dreame?

GoodNovel, which also sells later chapters for coins at about 100 coins a dollar and bans explicit content. Roma: Romance Novels is the other, rated 18+ on the App Store.

Is there a Dreame alternative with explicit stories?

Yes, though not another serial app. Literotica is free and adults only, Crave is an iPhone app of text erotica, and Smashwords sells erotica by the title behind an opt-in filter.

Is there a Dreame alternative without coins?

Spicify charges a flat monthly fee, Crave and Smashwords are subscription or per-title, and Literotica is free. All are smaller or different in kind from Dreame's 500,000+ novel claim.

Can I get a refund on Dreame coins?

The Terms say payments are final and non-refundable, except where specified, and give 30 days to contact support about a charge made in error. Subscriptions are cancelled in the Apple or Google store.
