Erotica Apps

Erotic Fiction Platforms

These are the platforms where erotic fiction is read, bought or borrowed: free story sites, per-title stores, subscription libraries and the general fiction sites readers try first. For each one we record what it costs and what its own rules say about explicit stories.

A platform here is a store, library or archive with its own catalogue, as opposed to the story apps in our apps section, whose product is the mobile app. The platforms sort into four kinds, and the kind tells you more about what you will pay and what you may read than the name does.

The first kind is the free community site or archive, where members publish and nothing is for sale: Literotica and Archive of Our Own. The second is the per-title store, with no subscription, where each book has its own price: Apple Books, Google Play Books and Smashwords. The third is the subscription library, a flat monthly fee for a large catalogue: Kindle+ and Everand. The fourth is the general fiction site that readers try first and that has its own limits on adult material: Wattpad, Tapas, FanFiction.Net and FictionPress. Those four are explainers, because the reason to read about them is to find the rules before spending an evening on the wrong site.

The audio platforms, such as Bloom Stories and femtasy, are here too, and the audio erotica section compares them. Interactive stories and AI story tools have their own sections: interactive erotica and AI erotica.

The reading platforms at a glance

The table gives the price in the form the service publishes it and the rule in the service's own words where we can. Where a platform's terms and its store ratings disagree, its page publishes both sides. Prices are US dollars, checked October 2026.

"Not found" means we looked for a sentence saying that all characters are adults and did not find one on the pages we read. It does not mean the service allows the opposite, and it describes the pages, not the catalogue. Literotica is the only one of these eleven that publishes such a sentence.

How to use these pages

If you want something free, start with our guide to finding free erotica and the ranking of free erotica options. If you want the platforms ranked against each other, the best erotic fiction platforms page does that with its criteria stated. If you came because a site refused a story, platforms that ban erotica explains where the lines fall, and why erotica apps disappear from the App Store explains the store rules behind many of them.

Two recent changes affect this list. Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+, and Smashwords is now a store only. Every figure on these pages comes from a service's own pricing page, policy or store listing, and we have not subscribed to or used any of them.
