Quick answer
- The order is the rule: a free library holds nothing back, a free tier holds back part of the product, an ad-supported version holds back your attention, free chapters hold back the story, and a trial holds back nothing until it charges. We rank in that order and leave trials out.
- Top two: Literotica (no account, audio and story games included) and Chyoa (branching, with ads). Both are websites, and neither has a store app we could confirm.
- Best free tiers: Outfox Stories for explicit community stories, Erota and DreamPress AI for AI stories (15 credits a day each), and Choices for a phone app, whose key timer and diamond routes are explained in a public help centre.
- Trials, which are not ranked: Dipsea, femtasy, Audible, Everand, Kindle+ and others are not free. Dipsea's 7 days bill $69.99 on day eight.
- Free is not explicit: Dreame, GoodNovel, Tapas, FanFiction.Net, Dorian and Lore are free in one sense and bar or avoid explicit text in their own words.
How we ranked them, and what we could not test
We installed nothing and signed up for nothing. Every statement comes from a service's own site, pricing page, help centre, policy or store listing, read on October 27, 2026, so we cannot say how much a free allowance actually yields in use. The five kinds of free are defined once, on the free erotica hub: a free library, a free tier, a trial, an ad-supported version and free chapters. This page ranks within that distinction and does not flatten it, because a trial at the top of a free list is the oldest trick in this niche.
Five questions set the order:
- Is the free part real and countable? A whole library, a daily number or a documented timer beats a line saying the app is free to download.
- What does it ask first? No account beats an account, and no card beats a card.
- Does the free part contain what you came for? We favour services whose own rules allow adult text, and name the ones that do not.
- How long does free last? No end date beats a rotation or a one-time allowance.
- What does the next step cost? A published price is better than a hidden one.
The services that rank are those with enough published about their free part. Where a service says only that it is free to download, we say so and do not rank it on impressions.
The ranking: twelve free options in order
Numbers 1 to 2 are free libraries, 3 to 9 are free tiers, 10 to 11 are ad-supported and 12 is a free-chapters app.

Literotica
Best free library: explicit stories, audio and story games, with no account needed to read
Free
- Type
- Free community site for adult stories (web only)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Library
- 500,000+ stories
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Free publishing for members, contests and awards; no direct author pay
- Web version
- Yes
Literotica is the one free library we cover that also has audio and interactive story games, all free, with membership optional and free and needed only to publish. No account is needed to read. It is a website: its About page says it released an early Android app and that Google later changed its policy to prohibit adult apps, and the only Android download it offers now is an old APK on its own site. Its footer on every page says Characters in all stories are over 18.
Its About page claims more than 500,000 stories, which is a company figure and not our count, and its Terms treat visiting as agreeing that you are an adult.
Who pays for it is not stated on the pages we read, offline reading is not confirmed, and it does not accept AI-generated work.

Chyoa
Best free library for branching stories, if you accept ads
Free
- Type
- community-written interactive adult fiction site (web)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Library
- Not confirmed
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Yes
- Web version
- Yes
Chyoa calls itself a community library for interactive adult fiction, where each chapter can lead to several continuations and any registered user writes the next branch. Its FAQ says most visible stories can be read signed out; an account adds bookmarks and saved games. It has no paid tier, carries advertising, and lists voluntary backers. Its footer says all characters are over 18, backed by six written rules.
It is second because the catalogue is written by its users and we have not audited it, and because we found no store app, which is not proof that none exists.

Outfox Stories
Best free tier for explicit stories, with a delay built in
$8.00/mofree tier
- Type
- community fiction site with an AI layer (web)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Library
- Not confirmed
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Yes
- Web version
- Yes
Outfox Stories is a free tier with a clock on it. Its Content Guidelines say All stories are Premium initially, and most (but not all) stories are moved to the free tier a few months after they are initially published.
Its home page says no ads and no account required. The AI chats and text adventures are capped on the free tier, at about 10 text generations a day by implication from the $8 Basic plan's 100.
New stories cost money, a one-time age verification applies in some regions, and illustrations and videos are safe for work only.

Erota
Best free AI allowance you can count in stories
$9.90/mofree tier
- Type
- AI-written explicit erotic story generator (web)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Library
- Not confirmed
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Not confirmed
- Web version
- Yes
Erota gives a free account 15 credits a day, which expire at the end of the day and do not accumulate. The Apprentice model costs 1 credit per story, so the allowance is at most 15 stories a day, a best case. The larger models need paid credits, and listening is listed under the paid plans. Explicit stories are the product, and the pricing page footer says all characters are 18 years or older.
It needs a free account with Google sign-in, and its own pages disagree on the larger models' credit costs. A paid month is $9.90 for 200 credits.

DreamPress AI
Best free AI allowance with no card needed
$9.99/mofree tier
- Type
- AI story generator for spicy and general fiction (web and iOS)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Library
- Not confirmed
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Not confirmed
- Web version
- Yes
DreamPress AI says Free to start · No card needed · 18+
. A free account gets 15 credits a day once the email is verified, 50 bonus credits for verifying and 20 a day from day 7 of a writing streak. Images cost 3 credits each and narration replays 1, and the credit cost of a chapter is not published, so the number of free chapters a day is unknown. Adult content is allowed under a Sexual and Erotic Content section.
Pro is $9.99 a month on the web and $12.99 on iPhone. It runs on the web and iPhone.

Pirr
Best free interactive romance, with the adult mode off until you switch it on
$12.99/mofree tier
- Type
- Interactive romance fiction app (iOS, Android, web beta)
- Free tier

Pirr's free plan gives unlimited access to what the vendor calls thousands of stories, 20 Standard AI actions a day, one character per story and three saved characters. Mature themes are off by default and are turned on in Advanced Settings after you confirm you are 18 or older. It writes text only, on iPhone, Android and a web beta.
An action is Pirr's own unit and we cannot turn it into chapters. Premium has a Start free trial button with no length stated.

Choices
Best free choice app, with the timer's rules in a public help centre
$14.99/mofree tier
- Type
- choice-based interactive story app
- Free tier
- Yes
- Audio stories
- Not confirmed
- Interactive stories
- Yes
- AI stories

- iPhone app

Choices is free to play with no account. A key unlocks a chapter, there is a soft cap of 2 keys, and a new key arrives when the timer reaches 0, although its length is not stated. Diamonds are free when you finish a chapter for the first time, watch special ads, use the Rewards tab or complete offers. A premium choice you have bought shows as Free
when you meet it again.
Its pages do not say its stories are explicit, and the price of a premium choice is not published. VIP is $14.99 a month and VIP for a Day $2.99.

Bloom Stories
Best free audio with no end date, though the selection rotates
Free tierplan prices need an account
- Type
- audio erotica platform, two live front-ends (bloomstories.com and audiodesires.com)
- Free tier
- A selection of free audios with a free account: changing weekly on bloomstories.com, monthly on audiodesires.com
- Library
- 1000+ audios; 500+ multi-voice stories
- Explicit content
- Yes
- Creator program
- Yes
- Web version
- Yes
A free Bloom Stories account gets a curated selection of free audios that change each week on bloomstories.com and each month on its sister site audiodesires.com, with, in its FAQ's words, no time limit or trial period
. The service says its stories are human-made and it uses no voice cloning. It plays on the web and has iPhone and Android apps.
A story you liked this week may leave the free selection next week. The paid monthly price is not confirmed, and the yearly figure is $131.40.

OhCleo
Best free audio sampler: three stories in full
$4.99/mofree tier
- Type
- audio erotica app (creator uploads)
- Free tier
- Free account; some tracks are marked FREE and others PREMIUM; 3 stories can be heard in full after a free sign-up
- Audio stories
- Yes
- Interactive stories
- Not confirmed
- AI stories
- Not confirmed
- iPhone app
- Yes
- Android app
- Yes
OhCleo's home page says to create a free account and pick any 3 stories to hear in full, and some tracks are marked FREE. Its FAQ says it does not normally offer free trials, so this is a sampler and not a trial. The full library is in the app, with premium plans from $4.99 for a month on the US App Store.
Three is a count, not a tier that refreshes. It is a creator marketplace where creators may use AI voices, and a keyword scan of its sitemap found one item that breaks its own rules, which the OhCleo review explains.

BLANCHEstories
Best ad-supported app, with about 100 stories free
~$7.90/mofree tier
- Type
- audio erotica app
- Free tier
- A free version of the app with ads
- Audio stories
- Yes
- Interactive stories
- Not confirmed
- AI stories
- Not confirmed
- iPhone app
- Yes
- Android app
- Yes
BLANCHEstories is the clearest ad-supported case: We also offer a free version of the app, with ads
. The Swedish App Store text puts that version at about 100 stories against 600 or more in Premium, which is ad-free and costs 79 SEK a month or 595 SEK a year. The App Store text says stories can be downloaded for offline listening. It is audio, in Swedish and English, on iPhone and Android.
It has a FREE TRIAL button with no length stated, no web player, and an App Store rating of 16+ against terms that say 18.

Satinaire
Best ad-supported app for Android, with AI-written serials
Freecoin prices not published
- Type
- AI-written romance and fantasy serial app (Android only)
- Free tier
- Yes
- Audio stories
- Yes
- Interactive stories
- Not confirmed
- AI stories
- Yes
- iPhone app
- No
- Android app
- Yes
Satinaire is free to download and free to start reading, with ads between chapters, and its privacy policy names rewarded ads that unlock free chapters. Coins unlock the rest at prices it does not publish. Its Terms say its stories are generated by AI, and they restrict content at spice level 4 and above to users aged 18 or over.
It is Android only, needs an account, and how much of the library is free is not stated.

Roma: Romance Novels
Best free-chapters app with daily coin rewards and offline reading
$17.99/mofree tier
- Type
- serialized romance novel reader with an author programme (iPhone and Android)
- Free tier
- Free chapters, then coins
- Audio stories
- Not confirmed
- Interactive stories
- Not confirmed
- AI stories
- Not confirmed
- iPhone app
- Yes
- Android app
- Yes
Roma is the one free-chapters app we rank, because its own FAQ states the free part. Dreame and GoodNovel bar sexually explicit material in their terms, and Roma's are Apple's standard EULA with no content bar. Its FAQ says each book has free preview chapters, and that premium chapters unlock with tokens you can earn through daily rewards or buy. The App Store lists coin packs from 500 for $4.99 to 6,000 for $39.99, which is 1.0 down to 0.67 cents a coin by our arithmetic, and an Unlimited Reading monthly item at $17.99. Offline reading is stated.
It ranks last because the free part ends at a paywall and the coin cost of a chapter is not published. We found no content policy, so whether it carries explicit text is not stated.
Archive of Our Own, described and not ranked
Archive of Our Own is also a free library: its FAQ says Users don't have to pay to use the site, and we don't host ads
, it is funded by donations, and it has no official mobile app. Its Content Policy states a goal of maximum inclusiveness, and works carry ratings up to Explicit. It hosts fan works about existing characters, and we found no sentence saying all characters are adults. As on its own page, we describe it and do not recommend it, and we do not link to any work, tag or search.
What each kind of free costs you instead
Free is paid for in other ways, which is why the order is by what is held back. This table sets out what each ranked service asks of you, from the pages we read.
| Service | Account to start | Ads | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| No | Not stated | Web; own-site APK, no store app | |
| Not for most stories | Yes | User-written catalogue; no store app found | |
| No, to read | No, per its site | New stories are Premium for a few months; AI capped | |
| A free account | Not stated | Credits expire daily; Apprentice model only | |
| A verified email | Not stated | Credit cost of a chapter unknown | |
| Not stated | Not stated | One character per story; adult mode is opt-in | |
| No | Yes, including rewarded ads | A key timer of unstated length | |
| A free account | Not stated | The selection rotates weekly or monthly | |
| A free account | Not stated | Three stories; the library is in the app | |
| The app | Yes | About 100 of 600+ stories; Premium priced in kronor | |
| Yes | Yes | Android only; AI-written; coin prices unpublished | |
| Not stated | Yes | Chapters stop at a paywall; chapter price unpublished |
The pages on free NSFW reading apps, free interactive erotica and free AI erotica stories go further into accounts, timers and credits for their groups. For the audio services, free audio erotica sets out what each trial charges.
Trials: not free, so not ranked
A trial is time-limited access that renews into a charge, and a service with only a trial has no free plan. These are the trials in our records, and what each becomes if you forget it.
| Service | Trial | What it turns into |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days, annual plan only | $69.99 for the year, billed when the trial ends; no free plan | |
| 30 days, annual plan only | $109.99 for the year after a $0.00 first month | |
| 30 days | $8.99 a month on Standard, auto-renewing | |
| 7 days | £12.99 a month or £39.99 a year on the website | |
| 30 days on its website, 7 through the App Store | From $11.99 a month | |
| 30 days, new subscribers | $11.99 a month plus taxes | |
| 3 days on every plan | $6.99 a week, $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year; every card says Coming Soon | |
| 3 days; which plan carries it is not stated | $5.99 a week or $29.99 a year |
Pirr and BLANCHEstories have a free-trial button with no length stated, and Crave's Terms say only that some offerings may include a trial. None of these tells us whether a card is needed to start. NovelAI is a different case: it has no free plan and a one-time allowance of 50 text generations that does not start a subscription. Our comparison of free and paid erotica apps weighs what changes when you pay.
Free, but not for explicit text
Several services are free and popular and are not places for explicit stories by their own words. Dreame and GoodNovel give free first chapters, and their terms bar sexually explicit material. Webnovel's terms bar content a reasonable person could deem indecent, pornographic
and do not name sexually explicit text. Tapas's guidelines say Any and all content intended for sexual gratification is not allowed.
FanFiction.Net is free and says it does not accept explicit content. Wattpad allows explicit scenes between consenting adults only in stories rated Mature, and bans pornographic content created primarily for arousal. Dorian and Lore have free routes, and Dorian's guidelines say explicit sexual content is not welcome while Lore's Google Play copy says No graphic content
. Our page on free porn story apps quotes each rule.
Some free tiers are left out of the ranking for the opposite reason, that nothing on their pages permits adult text. AI Dungeon has a free tier but does not say whether Mature works on it, DreamGen publishes no permission, NovelX gives 10 tokens it does not define, and huush says only that a selection of stories is free. A store rating cannot fill the gap: free adult story apps sorts the phone apps by what each listing admits. Without a subscription, coins and per-title stores are covered in erotica apps without a subscription.
A note on free APK downloads
Google's results for this phrase include APK mirrors and app directories. We have assessed none and link only to official sites and store listings. As general advice, take an install from the service's own site or its store listing, and treat a file from anywhere else with caution. Most of the best free options here are websites, which need no install at all.
Which free option for which reader
- Explicit written stories, nothing to pay, no account: Literotica. For the full set of free text options, see how to find free erotica.
- Branching stories you can add to: Chyoa, with ads.
- A phone app that is free to keep playing: Choices, on its key timer.
- Stories written to your own prompt, free every day: Erota or DreamPress AI.
- Something to listen to: a free Bloom Stories account, or BLANCHEstories with ads.
FAQ
What is the best free erotica app?
The best free options are websites, not store apps. Literotica ranks first because reading, audio and story games are all free and need no account. Among phone apps, Pirr and Choices describe their standing free tiers in detail, and for free AI stories Erota and DreamPress AI each give 15 credits a day.
Are there any completely free erotica apps?
Not store apps that we could confirm. The services that cost nothing to read, Literotica and Chyoa, are websites, and Literotica's About page says Google later changed its policy to prohibit adult apps. Most apps are free to download, which says nothing about what is free inside.
Is a free trial the same as a free erotica app?
No. A trial renews into a charge unless you cancel. Dipsea's 7-day trial is on the annual plan only and bills $69.99 when it ends. A free tier has no end date, and that is the kind we rank.
Do free erotica apps need a credit card?
Rarely, and most do not say. DreamPress AI's free plan says no card is needed, and NovelCrafter's and Sudowrite's trials say no card is required. For most services, including every trial in the table above, the pages we read do not state whether a card is needed.
Which free option has audio?
Literotica's audio section is free and plays in a browser. Bloom Stories gives a free account a rotating selection, BLANCHEstories has a free version with ads and about 100 stories, and OhCleo lets a free account hear 3 stories in full.
Is there a free erotica app for iPhone?
Choices, Pirr, OhCleo, BLANCHEstories and DreamPress AI have iPhone apps with a described free part. Crave and Yuu are free to download but do not say what is free inside, so we do not rank them. The free libraries need no app and work in a browser.
Are free erotica APK downloads safe?
We cannot say, because we have assessed none. Take installs from a service's own site or its store listing, and note that most of the best free options are websites with nothing to install.
