Quick answer
- Price: the pricing block on the home page lists a free plan (10 generation tokens) and Premium at $18.99 a month. The App Store lists $18.99 monthly, $4.99 weekly and four yearly items from $66.00 to $129.99. Yearly and day-pass prices on the web are unknown.
- The gap: the acceptable-use policy bans incest and non-consensual sexual acts. On October 27, 2026 the public library listed an "Incest" tag with 13 stories and a "Dubcon" tag with 36+ stories.
- Audio: the home page offers an "Audiobook" and "Listen to a Story" for supported chapters. Voice details are not confirmed.
- Where: web and iPhone (rated 18+). We found no Android listing.
- Age: an 18+ terms gate on first load, which is a declaration. The policy bans content involving characters who are under 18.
What Is NovelX?
NovelX is an AI erotic and romance story writer run by Sub Zero Labs OÜ of Tallinn, Estonia. Its home page title is "AI Erotic NSFW Story Generator". You describe a story idea, build characters, and the service writes it chapter by chapter into a private library; a "Story Chat" and character chat also exist. The home page carries a counter reading "89,000+ stories written", which is the company's own claim and not a figure we measured.
The public library is user-generated, which matters for the section on policy below.
NovelX review: who it suits
On the published pages, NovelX suits a reader who wants explicit AI-written stories with an audio option, a low-friction free start, and a monthly price that matches on web and iPhone. The marketing promises a lot of room: the About page says without filters, without judgment, without limits
, and the home page says Create unapologetically adult NSFW stories. No limits, no judgment, pure imagination.
It is a weaker fit if you need the published rules to describe the site, because they do not (see below), or if you want to know the price of a year or a day in advance, because the figures behind its gate are unknown. It is also not an app for Android users, as far as we found.
Whose model is it?
The content rules at an AI story service follow whoever supplies the model. NovelX does not say. The About page speaks of advanced AI
and the Premium plan advertises "no content limits" and "unfiltered images", but none of the pages we read names a model or a provider. So we cannot tell you whether a supplier's limits sit under NovelX's own, and the only rules we can cite are NovelX's. They are in its Acceptable Use Policy, last updated March 31, 2025. For the wider question see our guide to NSFW rules at AI story apps.
Where NovelX's policy and its library differ
This is the finding that sets NovelX apart in this section. Two sets of pages, both its own, describe different sites.
The policy side. The Acceptable Use Policy says: We do not permit any content that depicts, promotes, or glorifies non-consensual sexual acts, including rape or other forms of sexual assault. Additionally, content involving incest, bestiality, necrophilia ... or coprophilia ... is explicitly prohibited.
The home page FAQ lists Content that promotes or suggests incest
and Any forms of non-consensual sexual acts
as strictly prohibited. The same FAQ says As long as content involves consenting adults (18+) and doesn't violate our safety policies, your kinks are welcome.
The library side. On October 27, 2026 the public library listed a tag called "Incest" with "13 stories" and a tag called "Dubcon" with "36+ stories", each story marked EXPLICIT. One example story page showed the tags taboo, incest and dubcon. The addresses of the two tag pages and the example page are listed under Sources below. We do not link them in the text.
What this does and does not show. The library is user-generated, and we read tags and counts only; we did not vet any individual story. So this is a fact about the service, not a finding about a single story. It also says nothing about the ban on characters under 18, which we did not test and could not test from public pages. What the two sides do show is that the policy page is not a reliable description of what the library holds, and that the "no limits" marketing is not a reliable description of what the policy permits. We have no information on how the policy is enforced.
What the policy says about characters under 18
The Acceptable Use Policy has a section headed Exploitation of minors
. It says: We strictly prohibit and will report to relevant authorities and organizations where appropriate any content that exploits or abuses minors.
The home page FAQ adds Content involving characters who are minors (under 18 years old)
to its strictly prohibited list. That is a detailed written rule, one of four in this section.
It is worded as a ban on characters under 18 and as an adults-only condition on the kinks it welcomes. It is not worded as the sentence all characters are adults
, which Erota, DreamPress AI and Pirr do publish. The age check for users is the 18+ gate: By entering, you confirm you are 18 years or older and agree to our Terms & Conditions
, with an "I'm under 18" button. The App Store rating is 18+.
The free plan and what Premium includes
The home page pricing block lists "Start Free" at $0 with 10 generation tokens, story creation, character development, chapter-by-chapter writing and a private library. The page does not define what one token buys, so we cannot tell you how many chapters 10 tokens make.
Premium is listed with no token limits, no content limits, unfiltered images, advanced character tools, story templates, early access and no ads. The App Store listing does not say what Premium includes, so we cannot confirm the same bundle in the app.

The web rows come from the pricing block printed on NovelX's own home page: a free plan and Premium at $18.99 a month. The home page has a monthly and yearly toggle with a "-43%" badge, but prints no yearly figure, and the FAQ mentions day passes, quarterly and annual subscriptions without prices. The full pricing page sits behind an 18+ gate whose button also records agreement to the site's Terms & Conditions. We do not accept a site's terms on anyone's behalf, so we did not click it. The web yearly, quarterly and day-pass prices are therefore unknown, and we have not worked them out from the badge.
The App Store rows are in-app purchase items from the US listing, which shows six. Monthly is $18.99, the same as the web. Weekly is $4.99, which for 52 weeks comes to $259.48, against $227.88 for twelve monthly payments. There are four yearly items. Two are both named "NovelX Premium Yearly", at $66.00 and $129.99, and the others are "Yearly Flash" at $79.99 and "Yearly Special" at $99.99. Divided by twelve, the four come to $5.50, $6.67, $8.33 and $10.83 a month, cheapest to dearest. The listing does not single out one as the yearly price, and we cannot say which a new subscriber is offered.
No trial is listed. Free access is the 10-token plan. For the general mechanics of credit and token systems, see how story app credits work, and for other free options free AI erotica stories.
Audio and interactivity
The home page lists an "Audiobook" and "Listen to a Story" for supported chapters, and the iOS listing also advertises listening. Which chapters are supported, and whether the voices are synthetic or recorded, is not stated, so we do not place NovelX on our page about voice narration either way. Stories are generated chapter by chapter from your idea, and whether the reader's choices branch the story is not confirmed.
Cancelling, refunds and the unread pages
We did not record any cancellation or refund terms, because the Terms & Conditions page was not read in this pass. The home page footer links a terms page and a privacy page; we have not read either, so we make no claim about what they say (our page on whether erotica apps are private covers the services whose policies we did read). If you subscribe through the App Store, Apple's own subscription settings apply. Our guide to cancelling a story app subscription covers the general steps.

Its policy says no: the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits both, and so does the home page FAQ. Its public library nonetheless listed an "Incest" tag with 13 stories and a "Dubcon" tag with 36+ stories on October 27, 2026. We did not vet individual stories.

Final verdict
NovelX is a free-to-start explicit story generator with audio and one price we can confirm, $18.99 a month. Read its policy and its library as two separate things, because they currently disagree on incest and non-consensual content, and treat the yearly price as unknown until you see it in the checkout. We have not used it, so this reads the published pages and the tag counts we recorded.
