An erotica app is usually one of four things. Some sell audio stories by subscription. Some are choice-based story games that charge in gems or diamonds. Some are web novel platforms that sell chapters for coins. And a growing number are single-developer readers whose entire public record is a store listing and a short policy page. The right question is rarely which is best. It is what you will pay, what is free, and what the app itself says about age and content.

Every page in this section says where a figure came from: a pricing page, a store listing, a terms page. We did not install, subscribe to or test any of these apps, so we describe what is published and say plainly when something is not. Where two pages from the same service disagree, we print both. A store rating appears as its age number, and where an app's own terms set a different age, we show both.

The three coin-priced serial platforms

Dreame, GoodNovel and Webnovel sell web novel chapters for coins, and readers often arrive expecting explicit content. What the written rules say is the useful thing to know before spending anything. The coin rate matters too, because a Webnovel coin costs about twice as much as a Dreame or GoodNovel coin, so coin counts cannot be compared between apps.

PlatformWhat its terms say about sexual contentStore ratingsCoin value on the App Store
DreameBans "sexually explicit or pornographic" user content18+ on the App Store, 17+ on Google PlayAbout 100 coins a dollar
GoodNovelBans "sexually explicit description, cover and graphic" in user content13+ on the App Store and Google PlayAbout 100 coins a dollar
WebnovelBars "indecent" and "pornographic" user content; terms last updated in 201916+ on the App Store, 13+ tier on Google PlayAbout 50 coins a dollar

The same reading app sometimes appears under several names. Our investigation of the same reading app under different names sets out the evidence for seven families of apps that share a publisher or a backend, and what that does not prove.

Nine small apps, side by side

These are store-listing products, often by a single developer, so the pages are short and say what is missing. The table shows the facts that decide most readers' choice. "Not published" means the listing and the site give no price at all.

AppRuns onStore ratingPrices published
CraveiPhone18+Ten subscription items, $4.99 to $69.99, several with no period

Erotic Stories - EroticaiPhone18+$5.99 a week, $29.99 a year, $39.99 once
huushiPhone18+$8.99 a month, $34.99 a year; policy pages unread
Velvet NoveliPhone, iOS 26 or later16+Not published
SmuthieiPhone, Android16+ on the App Store, 13+ tier on Google PlayThree items, no periods; last updated July 25, 2025
SpicifyiPhone, Android, web18+ on the App Store, 17+ on Google Play$4.99, $14.99 and $19.99 a month on the website
SatinaireAndroid13+ tier on Google PlayNot published
Roma: Romance NovelsiPhone, Android18+ on the App Store, 17+ on Google PlayCoin packs $4.99 to $39.99; chapter cost not published

Two points recur. The fine print often sits on separate pages from the store text, and sometimes contradicts it: Spicify's own pages disagree about what is free, and Epictos rates 18+ on the store while its policy sets a floor of 13. And almost none of these apps says whether all its characters are adults. Crave's Terms are the exception among them.

Audio and choice-based apps

The audio apps have their own hub, with prices and trials side by side: see our audio erotica section, which covers Dipsea, Quinn, OhCleo and the rest. The choice-based story games, where you pay in diamonds, keys, tickets or gems for each chapter or choice, are covered in the interactive erotica section, with reviews such as Choices, Chapters and Romance Club.

Where to go next

If you are choosing between apps, our guide to choosing an erotica app starts from what you want to pay and read. If coins are the worry, how story app credits work explains the arithmetic, and the pricing section gives each service's cost. Websites and stores that are not single apps are in the platforms section, and our best erotica apps list ranks the field once every review is in.
