MeChat Review

Interactive story app

MeChat is a chat-format interactive story app from PlayMe Studio: stories arrive as text messages, characters send voice messages, and you pay in gems or with a $4.99 weekly or $9.99 monthly subscription. This MeChat review covers the prices the App Store lists, how much the choices change, and what the terms say about age beside an 18+ rating.

Quick answer

  • Price: the App Store lists a $4.99 weekly subscription and a $9.99 monthly one, plus gem packs from $0.99 to $19.99. What the subscriptions include is not stated.
  • What a choice costs: not published. The store text does not say what gems buy, and the packs carry no gem counts.
  • Endings: the copy says your choices impact the ending and gives no number of endings.
  • Where: iPhone (18+) and Android (Mature 17+ on Google Play, 10M+ downloads). The store copy says it needs an internet connection.
  • Age: the terms set no minimum age. They let people under the legal age use the app with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.

What Is MeChat?

MeChat presents each story as a conversation. You read messages from the characters as they arrive, choose what to send back, and the plot moves on according to what you picked. The Google Play copy calls them interactive chat stories, and the App Store copy talks about love episodes and romantic narratives. One feature is specific to the format: Your characters may now send you voice messages. Those are in-story voice clips from characters, not narrated audio chapters, so we do not list MeChat as an audio story app.

The operator named in the terms is IMPONILOX LIMITED, a company registered in Cyprus with an office in Nicosia. The Apple developer name and the Google Play developer are both "PlayMe Studio", and the developer site is playme.pro. That site still shows an older name, "MeChat - Love Secrets", which is also an alternate title for the app.

Watch out

Do not confuse this app with "MeChat - AI Friends". That is a different App Store listing (id 6782950891) from a different developer, and it is a separate product. Everything on this page concerns "MeChat - Interactive Stories".

MeChat review: who it suits

Going by the listings, it suits a reader who likes stories told as text messages and who is comfortable with a game-style economy of gems and timed subscriptions. It is a weaker fit if you want to read offline, because the store copy describes a free to play, online game that requires an internet connection, or if you want to see a price for a story before you open the app. No web version turned up in our checks.

Because we do not install apps, we cannot say how the chat format reads in practice, how long an episode runs, or how often the story pauses for a payment. The pages we read do not publish story lengths or a library size.

How much the choices change

MeChat makes two statements about choices. The first is make choices to impact the episode. The second, from the same store text, is your choices impact the ending. The second is the stronger of the two, because it promises that a choice has a downstream effect, but neither gives the number of endings, and neither says whether an ending can be reached by a free route.

That leaves the useful figure missing. A story with two endings and a story with twelve can both honestly say that choices impact the ending. Our page on apps with branching choices lists which services publish a count or say a decision is remembered later. MeChat is on that page for what it claims, not for a number.

Gems and subscriptions: what the App Store lists

MeChat is free to download, and the copy calls it free to play. What is free inside is not confirmed, because there is no public help page. The App Store lists ten items, some of them twice:

Checked October 27, 2026. Source: apps.apple.com. Prices change with region, promotions and the store you buy through.

The gem packs are named Tiny, Handful, Small, Medium and Large and cost $0.99, $1.99, $4.99, $9.99 and $19.99. None states how many gems it holds, so a gem has no price we can give. The store text does not say what gems buy or what one choice costs, and that figure appears only inside the app, which we do not install. Google Play adds a wider range, $0.99 - $199.99 per item, so the App Store list is not the whole price ladder.

The subscriptions are the one place with arithmetic to do. The weekly plan costs $4.99 and the monthly plan $9.99. Four weekly payments come to $19.96, almost exactly double the monthly price, and a full year of weekly payments would come to $259.48 against $119.88 for twelve monthly ones. The listing does not say what either subscription unlocks, so we cannot say whether it removes the need for gems. For how weekly billing works across this niche, see our guide to how story app credits work and the page on what MeChat costs.

Where MeChat runs

WhereAvailableNotes
iPhone and iPadYesSeller IMPONILOX LIMITED; App Store age rating 18+; v, updated 2026-09-21; price Free.
AndroidYesListing 'MeChat - Interactive Stories', developer 'PlayMe Studio'; Play content rating Mature 17+; updated Sep 26, 2026; downloads 10M+; in-app items $9 - $199 per item; contains ads, in-app purchases.

Both listings were updated in September 2026 (App Store on September 21, version 4.53.0; Google Play on September 26), so the app is maintained. We found no web version. Offline play is ruled out by the store text quoted above; our page on apps with offline reading lists the services that do allow it. Both stores flag advertising.

The age gap: 18+ on the store, parental permission in the terms

MeChat's published age wording comes in three pieces.

  • The App Store listing shows 18+, with mature or suggestive themes and sexual content or nudity both marked frequent.
  • The Google Play listing shows Mature 17+.
  • The general terms of use set no age floor. Section 4.10 says minors must have the permission of, and be directly supervised by, their parent or guardian, and section 6.11 allows purchases if you are a legal adult in your country of residence.

Those are the facts as published. We do not know how the app handles age at sign-up, because we do not create accounts, and the pages we read do not describe an age check.

We looked for a sentence saying that all characters are adults on both store listings, the developer's home page and the terms, and did not find one. That describes the pages we read, not the catalogue, which we have not audited. The store copy shows no school or under-age framing. The terms and store listings give no explicit-content policy, so we cannot say how explicit the stories are beyond Apple's descriptors.

Privacy and billing

The terms are the only policy page we recorded. We did not record a privacy policy address, a card descriptor, a refund rule, or how to cancel, so we state none of them. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are managed in the store's own subscription settings; our cancellation guide covers that route. The page on how erotica apps appear on a bank statement explains what to check on a first charge.

Pros

  • Weekly and monthly subscription prices are listed on the App Store
  • Characters send voice messages inside the chat, per the store copy
  • Maintained, with a September 2026 update on both stores
  • Terms published by a named company with a registered address

Cons

  • Gem packs have no published counts and what gems buy is not stated
  • What the weekly and monthly subscriptions include is not stated
  • Online only, per the store copy
  • No age floor in the terms, only a parental-permission clause, beside an 18+ rating

Best MeChat alternatives

Winked is the nearest match in format, because it is also a chat-style story sim. It is free to download with a published FAQ on earning free diamonds, where MeChat publishes no help page, and its terms set a floor of 13. Two other chat-format services sit in our data without a page of their own: Lure, which is dormant and whose official domain returned an error on October 27, 2026, and Love Sparks, a romance chat sim from the SWAG MASHA studio that also makes Love Sick. For stories told as chapters rather than chats, the field is on the interactive romance apps page and the interactive erotica hub. Readers who want the format explained first should start with how interactive story apps work. All app reviews are listed in the apps section.

Final verdict

MeChat is a current, widely installed chat-story app that publishes its subscription prices and little else about what they buy. It suits a reader who wants the text-message format and accepts that a premium choice has a price that only the app shows. It is a weak fit for offline reading and for anyone who wants gem counts or an ending count first. We have not installed it, so this is a read of two listings and a terms page.
