Erotica Apps

Dreame vs GoodNovel

Dreame vs GoodNovel is a choice between two apps with the same price and different signals. A coin costs about a cent at both, and both terms ban sexually explicit content, but Dreame is 18+ on the App Store with a frequent sexual-content label while GoodNovel is 13+. Choose Dreame for the adult store signal and no weekly membership on its list; choose GoodNovel for the plainer written rules on titles and covers.

Quick answer

  • The coin is the same. By our arithmetic a coin costs a hair under one cent at both: Dreame's five counted packs run from 300 coins for $2.99 to 2,500 for $24.99, GoodNovel's seven from 200 for $1.99 to 5,000 for $49.99. Three pack sizes match exactly: 500 coins for $4.99, 1,000 for $9.99 and 1,500 for $14.99.
  • The rules are alike. Both terms bar sexually explicit material in what users post. Dreame bars sexually explicit or pornographic material; GoodNovel bars sexually explicit description, cover and graphic, etc. (including any pornography) and adds rules on titles and covers.
  • The store signals are not. Dreame is 18+ on the App Store with a frequent sexual-content label. GoodNovel is 13+ with an infrequent one. Dreame's terms ask you to represent that you are 18 or older and admit people aged 13 to 18 only through a parent or guardian's account; GoodNovel's terms say 13.
  • Choose Dreame if you want the app that rates itself 18+ and shows no weekly membership on its current list. Choose GoodNovel if you want written rules on titles and covers, more genre shelves, and a membership price you can see before buying (what it unlocks is not described).
  • Neither publishes what a chapter costs in coins or how many chapters are free.

Dreame and GoodNovel are both web novel apps that work on a sample-then-pay model: the first chapters of a book are free, and later ones cost coins. Their terms read alike on explicit content. Their operators differ. Dreame's is Stary Pte. Ltd. and GoodNovel's is Singapore New Reading Technology Pte. Ltd., both in Singapore, and the publisher strings on their listings are different, so we do not treat them as one company. Our page on the same reading app under different names sets out what the listings show and what they do not. We did not install either app, so this is a read of the listings, terms and help centre.

Dreame vs GoodNovel: the coin arithmetic

The table lines up the packs that print a count, in order of size. The prices are US App Store prices read on October 27, 2026, and the rates are our arithmetic. Each store list shows at most ten items, so both may be partial.

CoinsDreameGoodNovel
200Not listed$1.99
300$2.99Not listed
500$4.99$4.99

1,000$9.99$9.99
1,500$14.99$14.99

2,500$24.99Not listed
5,000Not listed$49.99
Coins per dollar100.04 to 100.3100.02 to 100.5

So a coin is about a cent at both, and neither gives a discount for buying more: the largest pack costs the same per coin as the smallest. One further Dreame item, "Dreame Coins" at $6.99, states no count and is left out of every sum. An earlier read of the same Dreame listing recorded other items, among them "week reader" at $2.99 and "a month's time reader" at $4.99, which the later read did not reproduce; we treat those as unconfirmed.

The missing number is the one that sets the bill: the coins a chapter costs. Neither service publishes it, and it appears only inside the app. The sum is coins per chapter times chapters, divided by 100 for dollars, at either service. Because the rate is identical, a chapter that costs the same number of coins in both apps costs the same dollars, and the apps are not necessarily priced alike per chapter. Our cost pages do the same sums at length: what Dreame costs and what GoodNovel costs.

Memberships: one listed, one not confirmed

GoodNovel's App Store list carries a "Weekly Subscription" at $9.99 and a "Weekly Membership" at $19.99, and the listing text names an auto-renewing "GoodNovel Bundle". What any of them unlocks is not described. Our arithmetic: four weeks cost $39.96 and $79.96, and a year of weekly payments $519.48 and $1,039.48. One week at $9.99 costs the same as the 1,000-coin pack, so it only beats coins for a reader who would buy more than about that many coins' worth of chapters in a week, and nobody can check that without the chapter price.

Dreame's current list shows only coin packs. Its listing text still describes auto-renewing subscriptions without a price, so a membership may exist, but we cannot say what it costs. That is a real difference in what a reader can see before buying, and it is not a statement that Dreame has no subscription.

Free chapters and earned coins

Both give the first chapters of a book free, and neither says how many. Dreame's About page puts it this way: readers get the chance to read the first chapters of an online novel before deciding whether to support an author by purchasing coins. Its App Store text adds daily rewards, Earn bonuses just for reading what you love. GoodNovel's App Store text is blunter: GoodNovel is unfortunately not a totally free online novel platform, with in-app tasks that earn coins toward new chapters. Neither says how many coins a reward or task pays.

GoodNovel also has Gems, which are a different thing. The help centre says readers send Gems to books and authors, and that more Gems raise an author's place on the Gem Ranking List. We found no price for Gems and no statement that they unlock chapters.

What each policy forbids

This is the part of the comparison that matters most to a reader looking for explicit stories, so here are both clauses as written.

WhereDreameGoodNovel
Terms, content clauseYour use and "Your Content" must not include or contain any material that is exploitive, obscene, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit or pornographic, violent, inflammatory, or discriminatory (Terms published September 18, 2025)User Content must not involve or embody sexually explicit description, cover and graphic, etc. (including any pornography) (Terms of Use, section 5.5(b); no document date shown)
TitlesNo rule recordedA title should not contain any words that imply sexual content; the list of words not allowed includes Erotic, Forbidden Love, Mature, Sex, Sexy, Virgin and 18+
CoversNo rule recordedNo sexually suggestive or explicit covers, nudity or implied nudity, or images alluding to sexual activity
People under 18Must not harm minors in any way by exposing them to inappropriate contentUser Content must not infringe the interests of people under 18

Two points about the wording. First, both are limits on what users post, not descriptions of what the catalogue holds, so neither clause by itself tells you that no scene in a novel is sexual. GoodNovel's help centre even lists a title such as "A Night With The Billionaire" as allowed for readers above 18+, which shows some content is meant for adults. Second, neither promises explicit content. A reader who wants explicit fiction in writing will find it stated on the sites listed under free porn story apps, not at either of these. Our guide to why erotica apps disappear from the app store explains the store rules that plausibly sit behind wording like this, although neither service says so.

Ratings and ages: where the two part company

The clauses are close. The store signals are not.

  • Dreame: 18+ on the App Store, with Apple's advisory "Frequent: Sexual Content or Nudity", and Mature 17+ on Google Play. Its terms say you represent that you are age 18 or older, and that people between 13 and 18 may use the services only through an account set up by a parent or guardian. People under 13 are barred.
  • GoodNovel: 13+ on the App Store, with the advisory "Infrequent: Mature or Suggestive Themes", and the 13+ tier on Google Play, whose own label for it is Teen. Its terms say You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Platform.

Put plainly: both terms bar sexually explicit material, but Dreame tells Apple that sexual content is frequent and takes an 18+ rating, while GoodNovel tells Apple the opposite and takes 13+. We do not know how either app checks age, because we do not create accounts, and neither terms describes a document check. We looked for a sentence saying that all characters are adults in each service's terms, About page and App Store text and found none at either. That describes the pages we read, not the catalogues, which we have not audited.

Library, genres and writers

Dreame's App Store text claims 500,000+ novels across all genres and 100+ million readers, both self-reported, and names werewolf, billionaire romance, alpha male, true mate, revenge, love triangles, royal romance, fantasy and mystery. GoodNovel gives no library figure we could confirm. Its App Store wording is Hundreds of web novel Read More Than 1,000,000+ Times, and an About-page sentence on hundreds of thousands of originals was not found on the pages we read. Its genre shelves run to romance, werewolf, mafia, fantasy, system, urban, LGBTQ+, paranormal, mystery and thriller, MM romance and sci-fi.

For writers, GoodNovel's Writer's Reward Plan 2026 publishes bonus figures: a $100 signing bonus for an exclusive book at 30,000 words, a $150 monthly bonus under stated conditions, and completion bonuses of $250, $325 and $400 at 150,000, 200,000 and 250,000+ words. The royalty percentage is not published. Dreame says it supports writers with royalties, promotions and workshops; the writer's percentage is not published and bonus amounts did not load as text. Both have a web reading site, but neither's web coin prices were recorded.

Cancelling and refunds

Both cancel in the store, not the app. Dreame's terms say a subscription can be cancelled before the end of the current billing period through Apple ID or Google Play, with no refund for the remaining days, and that payments are final and non-refundable except where Dreame specifies; a charge made in error must be reported within 30 days. GoodNovel's App Store text says to choose "GoodNovel Bundle" in your Apple ID subscription settings and unsubscribe at least 24 hours before the period ends, and its terms say All fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable. Neither states an expiry rule for coins. Apple's rules say credits bought in-app may not expire, and our guide to cancelling a story app subscription covers the steps.

FAQ

Is Dreame or GoodNovel cheaper?

On the coin, neither: both cost about a cent a coin, and three pack sizes (500, 1,000 and 1,500 coins) are priced identically. The coins a chapter costs are not published by either. GoodNovel lists weekly memberships at $9.99 and $19.99; Dreame shows none on its current list.

Its terms bar user material that is "sexually explicit or pornographic". The App Store still rates it 18+ with a frequent sexual-content advisory. We have not read the catalogue.

Does GoodNovel allow explicit content?

Its terms bar user content with "sexually explicit description, cover and graphic, etc. (including any pornography)", and its help centre bars sexual words in titles and suggestive covers.

Which has more free chapters?

Not published. Both give the first chapters of each book free without saying how many, and both let you earn some coins, Dreame through daily reading rewards and GoodNovel through in-app tasks.
