GoodNovel Cost: Coins, Weekly Memberships and Refunds

What does GoodNovel cost in coins and weeks?

GoodNovel states plainly that it is not a totally free online novel platform, because it needs authors to earn a stable income. That makes GoodNovel cost a two-part question: how much a coin costs, and whether a weekly membership beats buying coins. The first has a clean answer. The second cannot be settled, because the store list does not say what a membership unlocks.

This is the US App Store list read on October 27, 2026. It shows at most ten items, three of which are weekly memberships, so it may be partial. The "Weekly Membership" at $19.99 is listed twice, once spelled with a capital I in place of the L.

The coin, in cents

Our arithmetic from the seven counted packs: 200 coins for $1.99 is 100.5 coins a dollar, 500 for $4.99 is 100.2, 600 for $5.99 is 100.2, 1,000 for $9.99 is 100.1, 1,500 for $14.99 is 100.07, 2,000 for $19.99 is 100.05 and 5,000 for $49.99 is 100.02. A coin costs a fraction under a cent in every pack, so buying in bulk saves nothing per coin.

To price a book, take the coins per chapter shown in the app, multiply by the chapters you expect to read, and divide by 100. That gives dollars. The coins per chapter sit inside the app, which we do not install, and are not published, so we do not offer a worked example with an invented chapter price.

The weekly plans against the coin rate

Weekly pricing is where GoodNovel differs from Dreame, which shows no confirmed subscription. Our sums from the two listed prices, assuming both renew each week:

• $9.99 a week is $39.96 over four weeks and $519.48 over 52 weeks.
• $19.99 a week is $79.96 over four weeks and $1,039.48 over 52 weeks.

Set against the coin rate, one week at $9.99 costs the same as a 1,000-coin pack. So the weekly membership only beats coins for a reader who would otherwise buy more than about 1,000 coins' worth of chapters every week. For the $19.99 item the bar is about 2,000 coins. The listing does not say what either membership unlocks, so we cannot say whether anyone clears the bar. The listing text also names an auto-renewing "GoodNovel Bundle" subscription without a price, and whether the weekly items belong to it is not stated.

Free, and the other currency

The App Store text says the first chapters are free and that in-app tasks earn coins toward new chapters. How many chapters are free and how many coins a task pays are not published. This is a sample followed by a paywall. It is not a trial, and no timed trial is recorded.

The help centre also describes Gems, which are a different thing from coins: readers send Gems to books and authors, and more Gems raise an author's place on the Gem Ranking List. We found no price for Gems and no statement that they unlock chapters, so keep the two apart when you read the store list.

Cancelling, refunds and the web

Cancelling. The App Store text says renewal fees are deducted automatically 24 hours before a subscription expires. To stop, go to your Apple ID subscription settings, choose "GoodNovel Bundle" and unsubscribe at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds. Section 7.1 of the terms says All fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable. That covers coin packs and memberships alike. Apple's guideline 3.1.1 says credits bought by in-app purchase may not expire; GoodNovel's pages state no expiry rule that we found.

Web against store. GoodNovel has a web reading site, but its coin prices were not recorded, so we cannot say whether they differ from the stores. Stores take a cut of in-app sales, which is the usual reason prices differ, though GoodNovel does not say so. Google Play lists in-app purchases but we have no range for them.

Is it worth paying? A short guide

General advice. If the coin rate is the only number you have, the best protection is a ceiling: decide how many dollars you will spend on one book, multiply by 100, and treat that as your coin budget. Skip the weekly memberships unless the purchase screen states exactly what they unlock. Compare the same sum on Dreame's coin page, which has the same coin rate, and on Webnovel, where a coin is about twice as dear.
