Quick answer
- Premium: from $4.99 a month on the Premium page, $5.99 as a monthly in-app purchase on the US App Store, $59.99 for a year in the store.
- Premium+: from $7.49 a month on the web, $9.99 monthly in the store, $89.99 for a year. The only stated difference is 200 bonus Coins a month.
- Coins: 9 for $0.99, 74 for $3.99, 244 for $8.99. Our arithmetic: 11.0 cents, 5.4 cents and 3.7 cents a coin, so the smallest pack costs about three times as much per coin as the largest.
- The trial: 7 days free on the Premium page. Whether a card is needed is not stated, and Coins given with a trial expire when the trial does.
- Not published: how many Coins a story or chapter costs, so no cost per chapter can be worked out. Reading stays free with ads either way.
What does Wattpad Premium cost?
Two prices exist for the same thing, and which you see depends on where you sign up. The Premium page quotes Premium as From $4.99/month USD
and Premium+ as From $7.49/month USD
, both marked as billed in local currency, while the US App Store sells Monthly Wattpad Premium at $5.99 and Monthly Wattpad Premium+ at $9.99. That is $1.00 and $2.50 more a month in the store, or 20 and 33 per cent. The word From
matters too: these are starting figures that move with the country you pay in.
| Plan | Price | Billed | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wattpad Premium (web page) | $4.99 | month | 'From $4.99/month USD', billed in local currency; 7-day free trial. No ads, unlimited offline stories, bonus Coins on every Coin purchase, Premium Picks (a free monthly bundle of 5 Wattpad Originals). |
| Wattpad Premium+ (web page) | $7.49 | month | 'From $7.49/month USD', billed in local currency. Everything in Premium plus 200 bonus Coins a month to unlock Wattpad Originals. |
| Monthly Wattpad Premium (App Store) | $5.99 | month | In-app purchase on the US App Store listing; contents as the Premium page describes. |
| Monthly Wattpad Premium+ (App Store) | $9.99 | month | In-app purchase on the US App Store listing. |

The annual plans appear only as App Store items: $59.99 for Premium and $89.99 for Premium+. No annual price is printed on the Premium page we read. The Payment Policy also mentions billing every six months, which no store item matches.
The arithmetic, out loud
- A year of monthly payments, in the store: 12 × $5.99 is $71.88 for Premium and 12 × $9.99 is $119.88 for Premium+.
- Against the yearly items: $59.99 saves $11.89 on Premium, about 17 per cent, and $89.99 saves $29.89 on Premium+, about 25 per cent. Premium+ is the plan where the year is worth taking.
- Against the web price: twelve months at the $4.99 web figure is $59.88, eleven cents under the $59.99 App Store year. Premium+ lands the same way, $89.88 against $89.99. Paying monthly on the web and paying for a year in the store cost almost exactly the same.
- What Premium+ really sells: the step up is $2.50 a month on the web for 200 bonus Coins, which is 1.25 cents a coin by our arithmetic. The cheapest Coin pack on the listing works out at 3.7 cents a coin. In the store the step is $4.00 for the same 200 Coins, or 2.0 cents each, and on the yearly items it is $30.00 for 2,400 Coins across the year, back to 1.25 cents.
So Premium+ is a Coin subscription with a discount attached, not a different reading experience. If you never spend Coins, the extra buys nothing the Premium page describes.
Coins: what they cost, and what they are worth
Coins unlock paid Wattpad Originals. The US App Store lists three packs: 9 Coins for $0.99, 74 for $3.99 and 244 for $8.99. Our arithmetic makes those 11.0, 5.4 and 3.7 cents a coin, so a reader who buys the smallest pack pays about three times the rate of one who buys the largest. Apple shows at most ten items on a listing, so there may be packs we cannot see.
What we cannot tell you is the part that decides whether any of this is good value: the Coin price of a story or a chapter was not on the pages we read, and we install nothing and create no accounts. Without that figure a cost per chapter cannot be worked out, and we will not estimate one.
The expiry rules are worth reading first. The Payment Policy says purchased Coins never expire, while Bonus Coins do: Coins that came with a free trial expire when the trial ends, and other Bonus Coins expire 30 days after you receive them. It also states that Coins are not virtual currency and that purchases made with them are non-refundable. The model across the whole section is explained in how story app credits work.
Free reading, the trial, cancelling and refunds
What is free. Reading is free with advertising, and the App Store listing carries the Contains Advertising flag. An account is needed for most browsing: the Terms of Service say you cannot browse very much without registering. Offline downloads are limited without Premium, though the limit for free users is not stated.
The trial. The Premium page offers 7 days free and invites you to start your free week. Whether a card is required is not stated. The Payment Policy's advice is the useful bit: to avoid a charge, cancel before the trial ends.
Renewal, cancelling and refunds. Subscriptions are bought through Apple or Google and renew automatically, so you cancel in the store rather than in the app; the Payment Policy says you can do that at any time and will not be charged again. Purchases are final and non-refundable except in limited circumstances, and there is explicitly no refund for the days between cancelling and the end of the term. Our guide to cancelling a story app subscription has the route for each store, and what erotica apps look like on a bank statement covers the charge itself.
Does paying unlock explicit stories?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding about the price. Mature content is reached through a free setting, the Include Mature toggle under content preferences, not through a subscription. The Content Guidelines, last revised on 10 August 2026, allow Mature stories to carry explicit sexual scenes between consenting adults and ban pornographic content created primarily for sexual arousal
, adding that a mature rating is not an exception to the guidelines. Age requirements for Mature content vary by region, the app is rated 16+ on the App Store, and the Terms of Service set the floor at 13.
In other words, Premium removes ads, lifts offline limits and hands you Coins. It does not change what Wattpad publishes. Readers who want explicit fiction without that rule should read our Wattpad alternatives page, and Literotica against Wattpad sets the two libraries side by side.
Is it worth paying? By how you read
- You read free stories and hate ads: Premium at $4.99 on the web is the whole proposition, and it is the cheapest subscription in our pricing section.
- You read paid Originals: Premium+ buys Coins at roughly a third of the best pack rate, which is the only arithmetic that favours it. Whether that beats buying packs depends on a figure nobody publishes.
- You read for a month or two: stay monthly, and sign up on the web, because the store charges 20 to 33 per cent more for the same tiers.
The full product record is in our Wattpad review, serial rivals are compared in Tapas against Wattpad, the free options across the field are on free adult story apps, and the whole section starts at erotica app pricing.
