Best Literotica Alternatives

Free archive

Literotica is free, so nobody leaves it for price. The best Literotica alternative depends on what a free web site does not give you: an app, produced audio, branching stories, finished books or AI-written work. Chyoa, Outfox Stories, Dipsea, Crave, Erota and Smashwords each answer one of those.

Quick answer

  • Price is not the reason. Literotica is free, needs no account to read, and has no paid reading tier. Every alternative below costs the same or more, so each is a trade.
  • An app: Literotica has no iPhone app and no Play Store listing; its only Android download is an old APK on its own site. Crave is an iPhone app of text erotica, with a $12.99 monthly item on the US App Store.
  • Branching stories: Chyoa is built entirely around them and is free; Outfox Stories adds an AI adventure option. Literotica's own Story Games are one section of a larger site.
  • Produced audio: Dipsea. Literotica's audio is free and plays in a browser, but the pages we read do not name its narrators.
  • The opposite policy: Literotica publishes only human-written work. Erota generates explicit stories to your prompt, and Outfox has AI chats and adventures.

Why look for a Literotica alternative

Literotica is a free community site for adult stories, audio and story games, and a long-standing one. Our Literotica review covers the record. Because it costs nothing, the reasons to look elsewhere are about what it is not:

  • It is a website, not an app. The About page says Literotica released one of the first adult Android apps and that Google later changed its policy. No Literotica app appeared in a Google Play or iTunes search on October 27, 2026, and the one Android download we found is an APK on its own site, version 2.1, on a page whose copyright line reads 1998-2017; we did not download it. Audio plays in a mobile browser, but there is no offline mode that we found, only a read-later list.
  • The audio is not credited. The pages we read do not name narrators or publish story lengths, so you cannot choose a voice or a duration in advance.
  • Members publish the stories. Authors keep their copyright and grant a non-exclusive right to publish, and the community can have anything removed that it finds disruptive. That makes it open and uneven by design, not curated. The library figures (500,000+ stories, 100,000 authors) are the company's claims.
  • It will not publish AI-written work. The Content Guidelines say it "publishes works by human for humans", and the Terms forbid using site content for AI. For some readers that is the draw. For others it is a limit.
  • The age check is a notice. Visiting counts as accepting that you are an adult, with no account, setting or document check. The footer sentence "Characters in all stories are over 18" is a published rule, not an audit.
  • Authors are not paid. A BETA "Support This Author" button links to a page at Amazon, Smashwords or Patreon. Writers weighing that should read the best erotica platforms for writers.

For fan fiction, our page on Archive of Our Own is a facts page and recommends nothing; the comparison is in Archive of Our Own and Literotica side by side.

The best Literotica alternatives, by what you want that it lacks

We picked six from our records and ordered them from the closest in kind to the furthest. Several of them change the policy as well as the format, so each pick says what you give up. Nobody leaves Literotica over price, which separates this page from most of the fifteen in the alternatives section.

Chyoa is a free, ad-supported library of explicit adult fiction where each chapter leads to several continuations and any registered user can write the next branch. Most visible stories can be read while signed out. Its Rules set a minimum character age of 18 and ban bestiality and excessive violence, and the footer reads "All characters in all stories on this site are over 18", the same kind of sentence Literotica prints. An entry screen asks you to confirm you are 18 or older.

The difference is that branching is the whole site, with reader variables and a Game Mode, where Literotica's Story Games are one section. The costs: it shows ads ("Want to support CHYOA? Disable your Ad Blocker!"), we found no store app, and no separate terms page exists. Chyoa vs Literotica goes further.

Outfox Stories is a community fiction site for adults with human-written branching stories and AI chats and text adventures. Its site meta says it has no ads and needs no account, and its Content Guidelines say adult and NSFW fiction, explicit scenes included, is welcome under written rules. Most stories start in Premium and move to the free tier a few months later. Basic is $8 a month, or $6 a month on an annual subscription, with a 14-day trial.

It differs from Literotica on policy: it allows AI-generated text, and it requires a one-time age verification in some regions (the Premium page names the UK, Australia, many US states, Germany and Brazil) before mature content unlocks. AI illustrations and videos are always SFW. We found no store app, and creator payout rates are not published.

Dipsea is a subscription library of voice-acted erotic and romance audio, with many series full-cast and voice actors it recruits. It claims 1000+ stories, adds sleep and wellness audio, and runs on iPhone, Android and the web, with offline downloads mentioned in the Google Play text. That fixes three things Literotica's audio leaves open: credited performers, a mobile app and downloads.

It is $12.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a 7-day trial on the annual plan only. It is a commissioned catalogue and not a community, and it prints no sentence on character age.

Crave is an iPhone-only reader of text erotica. Its listing says "Read, don't listen", claims new erotica weekly, and is rated 18+. Its Terms of Use say that all characters depicted in the stories "are portrayed as being 18 years of age or older, regardless of context or setting", a Terms clause with much the same effect. The US App Store lists a monthly Premium item at $12.99 and a yearly one at $59.99.

What you give up: it is not free (the listing does not say what is, and the home page shows one sample story), there is no Android app or website reader, who writes the stories is not stated, and the Terms read as a reused template. It answers the missing app, and little else.

AI-written explicit erotic story generator (web)

Erota is the opposite of Literotica's rule. It generates explicit stories from a form where you choose acts, themes, perspective, style, length, language and model, and it supports five languages. A free account gets 15 daily credits that expire at the end of the day, enough for one Apprentice story at 1 credit; Premium is $9.90 a month on monthly billing, with a 7-day trial and text-to-speech listening. Its footer says all characters are 18 or older.

The trade is plain: nothing is written by a person, the better models need paid credits, and listening costs credits too (8 per story at Standard quality). It does not replace a community of authors, and it is a web tool and not an app. See AI porn story generators for the field.

Smashwords sells DRM-free ebooks by the title, with erotica hidden until a registered user switches it on. Its Erotica Content Guidelines (March 10, 2026) say erotica is words-only and pornography has never been allowed, and its About page claims over a million ebooks, nearly 100,000 of them free. Literotica's own FAQ names Smashwords among the places authors link to from their profiles, so the two meet.

It is not a community. Books are priced, there are no apps, and audio is not confirmed. Choose it when what you want is a finished, edited book and not a free serial.

Literotica and its alternatives side by side

No row covers everything Literotica does for nothing. The free ones, Chyoa and Outfox, are web-only as far as we found, and the apps that run on a phone all charge.

How to choose

  • You want to read on a phone: Crave if you have an iPhone and accept a subscription. Otherwise, the Literotica site works in a mobile browser, which is why the missing app matters less than it first looks.
  • You want to choose the path: Chyoa for volume and a stated character-age rule, Outfox if you want an AI adventure as well.
  • You want audio with named performers: Dipsea, or see the best audio erotica apps for the other services.
  • You want a stricter age gate: Outfox, which asks for a one-time age verification in some regions. The others use a declaration.
  • You want something written for you: Erota, knowing it is the reverse of Literotica's human-only rule.
  • You want a book, not a serial: Smashwords.

FAQ

Is there a Literotica app?

Not in a store. No app appeared in an iTunes search or a Google Play search for the name on October 27, 2026, and the only Android download we found is an APK on the site's own Android page, which tells users to allow installs from outside the Play Store and carries a copyright line of 1998-2017. The site works in a mobile browser, audio included. Crave is an iPhone app of text erotica and Dipsea is an app for audio, but neither is free.

What is a free site like Literotica?

Chyoa is free and ad-supported, with branching stories. Outfox Stories has no ads and no required account, with most stories free after a few months in Premium. Both are web only, as far as we found.

Does any Literotica alternative have audio?

Dipsea is the produced option, with voice actors, a mobile app and offline downloads in its store text. Quinn and Bloom Stories are also audio services; see Dipsea alternatives for the field.

Do any alternatives allow AI-written stories?

Yes. Erota generates explicit stories to a form, and Outfox Stories has AI chats and text adventures. Literotica does not publish AI-generated works.

Which alternatives state that all characters are adults?

Chyoa's footer says all characters are over 18, Crave's Terms say all characters are portrayed as 18 or older, and Erota's footer says all characters are 18 or older. Dipsea and Smashwords publish no such sentence on the pages we read. That is a statement about pages, not about catalogues.
